The Wealth Management Product organization supports the Northern Trust Wealth Management business unit by driving the vision, strategy and delivery of the overall client and Northern trust employee (referred to as “partners”) experience. Our goal is to create, validate and iteratively deliver a contemporary, integrated experience that enables relationship management teams (and their supporting ecosystem of regional and operational support teams) to provide high touch, personalized interactions with prospects, clients and third party advisors through an efficient and scalable set of tools and operational processes. 

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Product Strategist to join the team to own the end-to-end Wealth Management product strategy approach and roadmap. In this role, you will need to be analytical, creative and comfortable defining strategy, driving change, leading meetings and transforming the most valuable ideas into actionable plans, products and results. You will collaborate with the broader Product team, Wealth Management leadership, thought leadership Practice representatives, Mid-to Back Office Operations and Technology partners to foster an innovative and integrated environment. 
Major Duties 
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of current client and partner experience and supporting technology and data platforms. Create and maintain the desired “nirvana” versus current state end-to-end, client + advisor journey map framework. Define, implement and evaluate a set of overall experience metrics to ensure business and experience success. 
  • Works closely with Wealth Management leadership, thought leadership Practices, Marketing, Sales, Technology, and Product teams to generate new ideas with measurable business outcomes. Maintain central backlog of future product opportunities. Define and drive the evaluation and prioritization process to vet new ideas for business value, financial implications, client + partner desirability, technical feasibility and competitive differentiation, ensuring any new offering or feature aligns with the broader client and advisor experience and business architecture. 
  • Partner with Product and Technology teams to define strategic priorities and sequenced roadmap to close capability, experience and foundational architecture gaps. Partner with Marketing and Product teams to translate overall product roadmaps into broader value proposition messaging. 
  • Partners with Marketing and Product leaders to set the agenda, priorities and execution plan for client and partner product research. Develops a consistent approach and repository for client and partner feedback and insights to be leveraged across Product teams. Consolidates efforts to create data driven insights that are used to evolve entire experience. 
  • Drive cross Product and Platform definition and collaboration for new and/or emerging experience opportunities. Identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies and partners with Technology and Product teams on defining and executing Proof of Value efforts. 
  • Provides leadership and guidance to entire WM Product organization through influence, fostering an environment which encourages employee participation, teamwork and communication. 
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of legal and risk requirements pertinent to wealth management, trusts, banking and investments. 
  • Stays informed of new and existing wealth management products and services, as well as competitive and market trends.
Qualifications:
  • Seasoned expert with extensive technical and business knowledge and functional expertise that has been developed over 7+ years and/or equivalent experience 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Executive communication abilities 
  • Ability to interface and influence all levels of the organization, including executive leadership 
  • Proficient in Product Strategy approaches, including business value definition + metrics, journey mapping and qualitative + quantitative research methods 
  • Familiarity with Human centered design approached  
  • Proficient in Agile development methodologies and product roadmap planning techniques 
  • In depth Financial Services knowledge  
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change 
  • Leadership and organizational skill are required to determine the Business Unit’s goals, resource needs and to assess and develop skills of staff
