Under direct supervision responsible for supporting Wealth Advisor practice partners in wealth plan related work for ultra-high net worth individuals and families. Key responsibilities include an emphasis on administrative tasks and support for the team, assist in the preparation of wealth advisory materials, and preparation for meetings and other events.

The key responsibilities of the role include: 
  • The position has a strong emphasis on administrative tasks such as organizing files, creating paper and electronic files, binding, scanning, managing travel schedules, submitting travel expense reports and maintaining client documents.  
  • Provide back-up support as needed to the Wealth Advisor partners; interact with Northern Trust teams and various service areas to help determine service requirements, coordinate daily activities, and handle inquiry resolution, where appropriate.
  • Assist in the maintenance of client financial wealth plans, including updating detailed balance sheets and collecting information in the development of wealth plans with an emphasis on estate planning related work. 
  • Assist in the gathering and reviewing of client data and monitor changes to clients or prospects financial data.  
  • Use Partner Workstation and other client relationship management systems to manage and update client information and data.
  • Maintain Wealth Advisor practice partner’s pipeline, prepare reports on pipeline status, and gather information for pipeline updates.
  • Organize files, bind client materials, and prepare presentations for client and other internal / external meetings
  • Communicate with internal partners, professional advisors, and others to obtain wealth plan information and assist in the implementation of wealth plans
  • Identify, coordinate and disseminate information regarding marketing events, new internal thought leadership items,(e.g. whitepapers, presentations, etc). and market research.  
  • Responsible for identifying and resolving problems within established guidelines.
  • Expected to use an appropriate level of initiative and to refer more complex problems to supervisors/experts.
  • Works effectively as a team member and also independently. 
  • Knowledgeable of the core aspects of the job and working towards becoming proficient in all areas of the job.


The successful candidate will benefit from having: 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to effectively interact with and understand team member needs and respond quickly with appropriate solutions
  • In-depth functional / industry knowledge is required
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change
  • Strong computer skills with emphasis on Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint 
  • Client relationship management systems knowledge (e.g. SalesForce) preferred 
  • Process and detail oriented
  • Analytical and organizational skills to proactively manage the wealth plan process for multiple team members
  • Able to effectively handle several projects simultaneously
  • A college or university degree and 1+ years of work experience in a financial firm environment preferred. 
  • Financial planning/wealth planning experience preferred.
