NT Asset Management Technology is embarking on a multiyear technology modernization effort of its Reporting platform using Azure, Snowflake and other technologies. We are looking for a dynamic leader over Technology for NTAM Reporting platform, this role will help drive the execution of the strategic vision of Northern Trust Asset Management’s Reporting technology capabilities. You will be responsible to lead technology strategy-execution to modernize, built for scale, add or integrate newer capabilities to the Reporting platform to meet current and strategic needs of the growing list of clients. You will be responsible for leading the engineering teams that will accomplish these goals.

This role requires vision and leadership to develop the roadmap, given current capabilities and future planning, to meet or exceed clients’ evolving needs. You will partner and closely collaborate with the NTAM COO’s senior leadership team to define long-term technology roadmap and deliver robust solutions with agile development methods to achieve the goals. As a senior leader, you will work across technology and business teams maximizing performance levels, agility and effectiveness through high degree of decision making, communication, empathetic leadership, talent management and mentoring. You will bring deep technical skills including know how of build vs buy innovative/emerging 3rd party fintech solutions in asset management reporting domain.

Major Responsibilities:

• Closely collaborate with business leads to understand product roadmap and business priorities. Create, maintain and execute on an aligned technology strategy/roadmap that clearly identifies deliverables and specific actions to meet the goals.

• Provide leadership to engineering teams to execute on technology strategy to modernize, built for scale, add or integrate newer capabilities to the NTAM Reporting platform to meet current and strategic needs of the growing list of clients and business needs.

• Plan, evaluate and hire great talent. Set the performance standards and provide mentoring and training to develop and grow direct reports.

• Hold responsibility over technology budget and related decisions.

• Continuously improving agile development capabilities, and deliver on commitments.

• Ensures compliance with all audit, security and risk management requirements

• Bring in contemporary modern delivery methods and techniques such as dev ops, automation, and human-centered design

• Defines and monitors metrics to improve applications’ stability and availability, as well as sustain and improve cost efficiencies and productivity gains

• Works closely with architects and other enterprise stakeholders to ensure solution alignment with best enterprise practices.

• Invests significant efforts to keep self-updated with asset management products/technology capabilities to integrate as off the shelf products to find optimum solutions and be able to advise build vs buy options.

• Should be able to work in a fluid and dynamic environment, and understand how to effectively communicate complex concepts that can be understood by senior leaders.


 

Qualifications Education:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, and/or business field of study required;

Professional Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in financial services/ customer-centric industry.

• 10+ years of engineering leadership experience.

• Experience in asset management technology and strong business acumen.

• Experience with range of technologies including Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Micro services architecture, Client facing application development, Java, J2EE, database experience working with vast amounts of data, building and integrating API’s into platforms.

• Past experience with large scale digital transformation of legacy applications into modern applications.

• Ability to synthesize and analyze relevant data to make informed recommendations and influence business outcomes.

• Track record of hiring, developing, and engaging a diverse and high-performing teams and managing performance by driving a culture of accountability.

• Experience with contemporary modern delivery methods and techniques such as dev ops, automation, and human-centered design Preferred/ Recommended

•  Azure/AWS public cloud experience preferred
