Technical Lead, IT Projects – Enterprise Technology Tools

Northern Trust Shared Services Technology team is seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join the Enterprise Technology Tools team. We are seeking an experienced technical lead for implementing technology & business applications. Some of the current tools this team supports – ServiceNow, Apptio, Clarity PPM, CAST.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Evaluates and recommends different solutions and those options best fitting business/project needs.
  • Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient and cost effective solution.
  • Ability to serve as technical project manager guiding teams to deploy & stand-up applications.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple projects with multiple priorities
  • Will partner with Product, Business and Operations teams, as well as internal IT teams to evaluate requirements to develop and deliver strategic solutions as well as defining a strategic roadmap to modernize the applications.
  • Promotes sharing of expertise through consulting, presentations, and documentations, etc.
  • Provides in-depth technical consultation to the clients, partners, and IT Management to develop plans and directions to assure the integration of technology tools
  • Identify appropriate technical solutions that provide business value while mitigating technical debt.
  • Work directly with development teams on concept development, performance issues and other implementation road blocks
  • Desire to learn and understand the business processes of the applications for which the role is responsible
  • Test and troubleshoot software to identify and resolve problems
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges and change
  • Exercises considerable creativity, foresight, and judgment in conceiving, planning, and delivering 2-3 initiatives annually
  • Excellent consultative and written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with client, partner, vendor, IT management and staff
  • Technical knowledge of daily financial and/or investment industry usually acquired through experience in related areas is a plus

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Working experience & knowledge in implementing Software as a Service (SaaS) applications/tools
  • Working knowledge on tools for IT Service Management, DevOps and Software Quality Management
  • Minimum 8 years of experience specializing as Developer or Technical Lead for applications
  • Knowledge of databases like Oracle, Ms-SQL, etc
  • Working knowledge of SQL & Unix shell scripting
  • Working with other teams in organization and implementing applications/tools to setup SSO, File Transfers, Access, etc
