Under direct supervision responsible for assisting the Manager with day to day operations of the Audit Unit, including conducting all required audits as well as researching, identifying, and resolving audit exceptions. The role is responsible for audits of the entire Central Region, therefore requiring travel between the following states: Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Travel is reimbursed to all locations except home office. In addition to Major Duties listed below, takes a proactive approach in providing administrative support to Team Leaders and Managers, handling complex audit inquiries and projects. Serves as a point of contact in management’s absence. 

The key responsibilities of the role include: 
  • Conducts audits. Identifies and resolves teller differences and other teller, banking and safe deposit audit exceptions and unusual transactions that impact the bank's exposure to loss. 
  • Performs research on all audit exceptions or unusual incidents. Presents findings to management as appropriate.
  • Consistently maintains strong focus on risk management, reporting to Manager any discovered or observed exceptions and/or incidents. 
  • Researches documents, files, checks, statements, and any other available resources to obtain data for investigations. Organizes and prepares investigation documentation for internal management. 
  • Communicates with management on investigations, providing information or conducting research as requested.
  • Assists with processing reclamation cases. Identifies sources of funds, makes recovery of funds, and collects information to present to management for further analysis. 
  • Serves as a point-of-contact in management’s absence, escalating issues as needed, and assists with handling complex audit inquiries.
  • Provides assistance and on-the-job training to peers. 
  • Assists the Manager with preparation of the monthly audit schedule as well as reviews and ensures accurate completion of all Branch Certification Packets. 
  • Provides assistance with various projects and maintains strong communication with management on a regular basis.
  • Works to develop innovative ways to report audit findings. Responsible for identifying and resolving problems within established guidelines 
  • Expected to use some initiative but refer more complex problems to supervisors/experts
  • Works effectively as a team member but also independently 
  • Knowledgeable of the core aspects of the job; working towards becoming proficient in all areas of the job
  • Running and creating formal reports


The successful candidate will benefit from having:
  • At least 3 years of banking experience is required. 
  • Candidate must be willing to travel and must have reliable means of transportation at their disposal. 
  • Knowledge of personal banking policies and procedures usually acquired through related work experience or formal training is required to research potential fraud. 
  • Problem solving, math, and attention to detail skills are necessary to conduct the investigations. 
  • Strong communication and time management skills are required.
