This role supports Northern Trust Wealth Strategists and the National Sales Practice in various aspects of the sales process. Primary responsibilities include responding to RFPs and conducting prospect research. Other duties include completing asset allocation proposals, fee proposals and assigned special projects related to the sales process. Strong writing and analytical skills as well as a general knowledge of Northern Trust’s business units are helpful in successfully completing responsibilities. Knowledge of investment management principles and intermediate to advanced Excel and Word experience are also strongly desired.
 
The key responsibilities of the role include:
 
  1. RFP Writing: Respond to RFPs for Northern Trust’s Wealth Management services. Engage appropriate Northern Trust partners from all business units to accurately answer RFP questions and convey relevant information. Work with partners across the company and research investment topics to develop, edit and maintain material for use in proposals.
  2. Prospect Research: Compile detailed research on prospective Wealth Management clients using advanced research tools and resources. 
  3. Fee Proposals: Assist partners in the preparation of proposals used to demonstrate and book fees associated with Wealth Management services. 
  4. Asset Allocation: Conduct asset allocation studies using the WealthBench application. 
  5. Special Projects: Complete special projects related to the sales process and lead generation as assigned. Support the evaluation, implementation and management of various tools used in the sales process. Assist with ongoing and ad hoc reporting and analysis related to sales process.


The successful candidate will benefit from having: 
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple workflows 
  • Experience with Microsoft applications, including intermediate to advanced Excel and Word experience. Familiarity with Salesforce is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Northern Trust business units, investment products and investment philosophy 
  • General knowledge of and experience with personal financial planning, trust and investment products and services are helpful to perform primary duties. 
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of investment management or trust experience
