Summary:

The job involves working for Northern Trust Alternative Fund Services, a Global fund administrator, specializing in administering assets of hedge funds, private equity managers, managed account platforms investing in alternative strategies and alternative fund of funds. The successful candidate will be an ambitious self-starter who has demonstrated the ability to function as an effective and strategic member in a dynamic, fast-paced and demanding environment. This individual will have a strong technical Accounting background, experience working within the Financial Services industry and a proven track record of working well with and leading others. The Team Lead will be part of our Financial Control team dedicated to servicing a global, multi-strategy hedge fund with several billion dollars in assets under management from an Accounting and Financial Reporting standpoint.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

        Manage a team of at least 1-2 direct reports and assist with their professional development

        Provide ongoing feedback and performance evaluations for both local partners and partners internationally

        Review month end net asset valuation packages and related client reporting, perform and review investor allocations, and review investor statements

        Lead major technology initiatives focused on increasing the scalability of our process and providing solutions to client mandates

        Review year-end Financial Statements and act as a point of escalation with external auditors and client to ensure accuracy of each fund’s annual reports

        Partner with senior leadership to build a high performance team through learning, development, mentoring and recruiting

        Lead Financial Control working groups responsible for executing strategic initiatives

 

Knowledge / Skills:

        Ability to collaborate both internally and externally to manage a project from idea to implementation

        Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain accuracy

        Excellent grammar, written and oral communication skills

        Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications

        Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills

        Ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team environment Client focused

Experience:

        A minimum of 4-7 years’ experience

        Experience with Investment Management and/or Financial Services; Hedge Fund specific a plus

        CPA designation a plus

        Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Accounting, Master’s degree a plus

        Big 4 public accounting experience or consulting experience a plus
