What You Will Do
Digital Experience Solutions is a multidisciplinary development, design and research team dedicated to delivering innovative, differentiated and exceptional digital experiences to Northern Trust’s clients and partners. The Digital Experience Solutions team is committed to providing a supportive environment that enables all partners to develop new skills, both technical and nontechnical, and grow in their careers. As an Institutional Investor Passport (IIP) Solution Architect, you would architect solutions that further Northern Trust’s foundational digital platform for institutional clients and align with strategic needs. 

The Institutional Passport Solution Architect is a curious, strategically-driven developer who leads with empathy, takes ownership of projects and: 
1. Contributes to an open culture that enables employees’ development through direct but kind feedback, promotes diverse perspectives and fosters a sense of curiosity and optimism 
2. Leads developers in the creation and review of new or enhanced software and technical design documents that aligns with architectures defined by the Institutional Passport team
3. Creates and maintains a technical capability roadmap and owns the technical risks and mitigation approaches associated with all features and technologies
4. Conducts feasibility studies and design system requirements for complex data processing projects or new technologies
5. Coordinates with enterprise and C&IS teams to ensure architectures align with standards and patterns (including security, accessibility and analytics) 
6. Discusses product enhancements and requirements for new product features with business leaders across teams, and communicates with partners at all levels about new processes and recommendations
7. Drives best practices in architectures to meet the growing needs of the application 
8. Participates in application troubleshooting (Technical and Functional) and assists Production Support teams wherever applicable
9. Continuously look for ways to improve the applications stability, scalability, and user experience.
10. Comfortable with estimation, scheduling, milestone tracking, verification, risk management, and project status reporting as it relates to product development.
Your Knowledge/Skills
The Institutional Investor Passport Solution Architect collaborates effectively with colleagues in an agile environment to design and build applications, and has experience that includes a combination of at least some of the following:

7+ years of experience with Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science OR 10+ years experience in IT
Knowledge of JEE, Java, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, DevOps, Cloud Computing (IaaS, PaaS and Saas), Docker Hub (Compose, Containers, Images and Machine), APIs, SOAP and RESTful interfaces, ANT, GIT, Gradle, Maven and Npm, Spring (Spring Batch and Spring Boot), Bootstrap, CSS3, HTML4, React.js, Node.js/JavaScript, Oracle PL/SQL
Using Java Platform, Enterprise APIs and Java Programming, with the desire to advance your knowledge of software development with the Java programming language  
Developing cloud architectures, as well as architecting a 12-factor application (12factor.net)
Ensuring application security through the Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC)
Designing high-performance, reliable and scalable database applications
Researching new technologies that align with the business strategy and contribute to the client experience 
Presentation and communication skills with a high degree of comfort with technical and business audiences
Collaborating with stakeholders to identify relevant requirements 
Demonstrate initiative and self-learning attitude, ability to work with team as well as independently on projects
Applying  UML sequence/class/communication diagrams, robustness diagrams and other agile development
Experience with data design patterns
