The roles focuses on assessing the operational risk within the business, advising the business on how to manage changes in the risk profile and providing assurance over effectiveness of key business controls. Under general direction, oversees the review, interpretation, and dissemination of current and proposed risk policies and procedures. Provides consultation and advice to partners regarding risk mitigation and compliance. 

 

 

1. Identifies situations which pose significant risk, articulates the risk, and guides management in developing policies and/or procedures that create the proper balance between risk and reward.

 

2. Consults with partners regarding daily decisions that could pose risk and conflict with existing policy. Communicates and provides risk mitigation advice and requirements to managers and appropriate personnel.

 

3. Applies analytical skills to evaluate incidents and operational losses and performs root cause and trend analysis. Prepares recommendations for process and control enhancements.

 

4. Works to proactively establish and document related policies, procedures and standards within the parameters of any relevant laws and regulations. Monitors outcomes/risk levels for the organization or assigned area.

 

5. Contributes to the production of integrated risk reporting.

 

6. Monitors and advises on significant change management projects.

 

7. Interacts with regulators, internal and external auditors on regulatory topics as needed and appropriate.

 

8. Provides direction and training to more junior staff.

 

9. Serves on internal and external groups to provide and receive advice on industry trends.

 

10. Handles more extensive, high-profile work.


11. Strategic in developing, implementing and administering risk programs within functional areas.

7 or more years of risk management experience.

 

Significant experience with MS suite of applications, including advanced Excel skills for analysis, and PowerPoint for reporting and presentations.

 

Strong problem solving, analysis and technical skills. 


Knowledge of risk management and strategic goals for the bank's wealth management business.

 

Communication and analytical skills are necessary to consult with partners/clients, and analyze information and to develop compliant policies and procedures.
