Senior Training Consultant / Training Consultant, GFS Functional Training Department

Servicing investment manager and fund company clients for over 30 years, we have developed expertise in administering the full spectrum of investment strategies from the most straightforward to the most complex. The business provides comprehensive middle office and administration services, including trade processing, asset servicing, valuation and reconciliations, accounting and NAV calculations and investor servicing and reporting. We offer our clients services that will evolve with their changing requirements. 

Role Summary 
As a member of the Corporate and Institutional Services (CIS) Business Services Training Team, the Training Consultant consults with all levels of management to translate business requirements into learning and development strategy. Also ensures that learning and development interventions are aligned with the needs of the Business Unit and Northern Trust. A Training Consultant is required to work collaboratively with senior business leadership in defining learning solutions that support the functional requirements. This role assists management in the development, implementation and maintenance of programs and curriculums. Delivers and/or oversees the delivery of a wide range of learning and performance support solutions, likely to be highly visible and complex in nature. The Training Consultant role will engage with local and regional practice leads and stakeholders to deliver the solutions required to support organizational goals at a local and global level.

This role is focused on supporting Corporate and Institutional Services (CIS) Business Services Training for Derivatives 

Principal Responsibilities 
• Consults with all levels of management to translate business requirements into learning and development strategy. 

• Develops and implements programs that support individual and organizational performance that are aligned with Business Unit and/or enterprise-wide needs. 

• Designs and implements proactive communication plans to ensure that learning and development initiatives are communicated effectively to global audiences. 

• Evaluates training solutions to identify areas for improvement and maintain highest quality delivery. 

• Identifies and evaluates applicability of new learning development vehicles, tools or programs developed by other organizations or vendors. Recommends purchase of programs to management, as appropriate. 

• Facilitates / conducts learning and training solutions. 

• Acts as project manager for major, complex and high-profile learning and development initiatives. 

• Keeps abreast of learning and development best practices and introduces them to Northern and Corporate and Institutional Services (CIS) Business Services. 

Area Specific Duties – Alternatives, CVR, Derivatives 
- Develop / Coordinate/ deliver the i2i program mandatory curriculum within assigned geographic location. 
     - Liaise with both managers and participants to outline program requirements. 
     - Continuous evaluation of the program working with CIS and Stakeholders. 

- Design, develop and maintain a training curriculum for the Derivatives function within the CIS curriculums which can be implemented and delivered regardless of geographic location. 

- Coordinate/deliver the new hire curriculum within your geographic location. 

- Design and deliver training for existing systems and new system roll-outs. 

- Ensures that CIS Functional learning and development interventions are aligned with the Business Unit and/or enterprise-wide needs. 

- Consult with areas in the business unit to provide ongoing support. 

- Work collaboratively with other global training teams. 

- Lead global projects within the CIS Global Learning group
Skills / Experience 
Is a technical expert with in-depth knowledge in area of expertise and strong knowledge of the business unit and corporate strategy. Is able to consult independently with and influence all levels of the organization, particularly senior leaders. Requires strong project management capabilities. Has excellent communication, marketing, relationship, facilitation and motivational skills. Shows strong judgment in the ability to formulate plans based on needs and leadership styles of key leaders. Executes efficiently and effectively. Leadership and organizational skills are essential to prioritize assignments and provide feedback to staff.  

For this position, we are looking for an individual that fits one of the two profiles below: 

Profile 1: An experienced operations professional willing to develop their consulting, writing and presenting skills.

Requirements include: 
• Minimum of 5 years of operational experience for Consultant role, minimum of 10 years for Senior Consulant preferably in a CIS Function or a similar role in Financial services 
• Excellent communication skills 
• Ability to work with all levels of staff 
• Self-starter and team player with strong attention to detail 

Profile 2: An experienced training professional willing to quickly learn all aspects of the CIS Function. 

Requirements include: 
• Minimum of 5 years of training experience for Consultant role, minimum of 10 years training experience for Senior Consultant 
• Excellent communication skills 
• Ability to work with all levels of staff 
• Self-starter and team player with strong attention to detail  

All candidates will be asked to present and submit a technical writing sample, either procedures or training documentation.
