This position reports to the Associate General Counsel – Litigation, Investigations & Regulatory Enforcement.  The group has a global mandate and is responsible for a variety of matters, including pre-dispute counseling, litigation and arbitration, internal and external investigations, regulatory enforcement matters, and responding to subpoenas and other information requests from a variety of sources.


Major Duties:
• Manages pending and threatened litigation, arbitration/ADR, investigations and regulatory enforcement matters.
• This includes managing all aspects of such matters: early factual development and legal assessments, outside counsel and vendor selection (where applicable), budgeting, strategy development, and overseeing and assisting with discovery and advocacy throughout the life of the matters.
• Provides advice concerning pre-litigation client disputes and issues.
• Conducts complex fact investigations and legal research.
• Helps coordinate, negotiate and execute responses to requests for information, subpoenas for documents or testimony, garnishments, levies and other forms of legal process received from regulators, civil litigants, third parties and others.
• Prepares employees, with or without the assistance of outside counsel, for deposition and trial/hearing testimony.
• Handles additional miscellaneous litigation matters and assists with internal reports concerning litigation or disputes.

Knowledge/Skills: 
The successful candidate will be an unflappable leader who cherishes a challenge and has sound judgment. S/he must be capable of effectively analyzing and distilling complex issues for numerous audiences.  S/he will skillfully communicate and partner with colleagues, junior and senior personnel, regulators and clients.  The candidate must have deep familiarity with, and participation in, the civil litigation and discovery processes.


Experience:
Candidates must be licensed attorneys with excellent credentials and approximately 4-8 years of litigation and investigations experience.
