Senior Consultant – Derivatives (OTC Operations)

Role Summary
As a Senior Consultant in the Global Derivatives Practice, the individual will have broad, in-depth knowledge of the Over the Counter (OTC) activities including life cycle processing for a wide array of OTC product (such as Interest Rate Swaps, Zero Coupon Swaps, Inflation Swaps, Credit Default Swaps, Cross Currency Swaps, Total Return Swaps, CFD's, Equity Swaps, FX Options, Swaptions.). This role focuses on relatively complex, extensive and technical activities which requires direct interaction with clients, partners and senior management.
What you will do
- Develop a thorough understanding of all the technical functions and processes within the team
- Use judgement to identify, troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day technical and operational issues. Including liasing with applicable third parties to provide trade information when requested
- Facilitating queries from other areas such as Fund Accounting, Valuations and Collateral
- Input to the collation of daily, weekly and monthly MIS for internal and external use
- Focuses on maintenance and implementation of Global policies and procedures in the function, building towards becoming an area expert
- Independently facilitate regional queries from Clients and establish excellent working relationships by ensuring queries are resolved efficiently
- Liaise with other internal departments and Relationship Managers across locations
- Actively represent the team on calls acting as a subject matter expert particularly in respect of new business take on and the tendering process for new business
- Pro-actively identify areas for service enhancement by meeting regularly with Client Service teams to understand on-going and specific client requirements, ensuring that any implications for the OTC Derivatives Team are understood and accounted for
- Build relationships with the global teams to ensure we standardize operating models wherever possible
About You
- Strong knowledge of the OTC Derivatives market and end-to-end lifecycle
- Extensive experience in client services and/or financial service operations is preferred. Related derivatives experience along with understanding of complex products such as OTC and listed IRS and commodity derivatives, listed equities, various credit products, total return swaps, foreign exchange and interest rate products both bi-lateral and cleared is highly recommended
- Previous Financial Industry Operations, Asset Management and/or Investment Operations experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage challenging clients
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritise workloads and to work comfortably without supervision
- Track record of adopting and understanding technical and complex operating models quickly and proficiently
- Knowledge and understanding of derivative valuations and regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with partners on site/ across business lines/ juniors and seniors
- Experience working independently within a global operating model managing communication across multiple time zones
- A proactive approach to problem solving, taking ownership of issues and having the determination to follow through
- Exposure to business process and/or technology enhancement initiatives
- Competencies in one or more of the following is preferred: Bloomberg, Markit Trade Manager, Mysis, TradeServ and Finastra
- Exposure and understanding of Risk, Audit and Compliance factors
