The Wealth Management Product organization supports the Northern Trust Wealth Management business unit by driving the strategy, vision and delivery of the digital client and partner experience. We are looking for a senior manager to join the team in defining, delivering and continuously improving the Wealth Management Sales and Servicing partner experience. The goal is to create and deliver a contemporary, integrated experience that enables relationship management teams (and their supporting ecosystem of regional and operational support teams) to provide high touch, personalized interactions with prospects and clients through an efficient and scalable set of tools and operational processes. This role serves to drive the strategy and vision for the broad set of tools for the Wealth Management’s 2500+ employees (referred to as “partners”); collaborate with client product leaders to foster an innovative and integrated environment; and interface and drive these strategies working closely with technology and other business units.  

Major Duties 

  • Manages the Sales and Service Advisor product development team. Conducts the performance management process, identifies training and development needs, and establishes performance standards. Determines staffing needs, makes hiring and firing decisions, handles salary administration, and ensures resources are available to accomplish priorities. 
  • Provides leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment which encourages employee participation, teamwork and communication. 
  • Develops the strategic roadmap for the advisor experience based on the overall, end-to-end experience vision, priorities and business architecture. Works closely with Wealth Management thought leadership practices, marketing, sales, and other product development teams to discover and define advisor experience improvement opportunities with measurable business outcomes. 
  • Responsible for leading efforts to continuously evolve the advisor experience leveraging product strategy, design and agile methodology best practices. Owns new feature development through every stage of the product life cycle. Determines minimal viable product/experience scope and expected benefits. Maintains and prioritizes product backlogs. Provides regular roadmap updates, manages progress against budgets and ensures delivery meets release timing expectations.  
  • Provides voice of the advisor and business unit when partnering with Technology organization in determining and delivering technical solutions. Participates in technical option evaluation, including conducting build versus buy analysis and evaluating emerging technologies.  
  • Partners with Marketing/Communication team to create appropriate change management, communications and promotional marketing for new experience roll outs. Responsible for relationship management team adoption and satisfaction with experience via qualitative and quantitative research methods. Maintains a thorough knowledge of legal requirements pertinent to wealth management, trusts, banking and investments. 
  • Stays informed of new and existing wealth management products and services, as well as competitive and market trends.
The successful candidate will have: 

  • Seasoned expert with extensive technical and business knowledge and functional expertise that has been developed over 10+ years and/or equivalent experience; Salesforce 
  • At least 7 years of management experience Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Ability to interface and influence all levels of the organization, including executive leadership 
  • Familiarity with Human centered design approached  
  • Proficient in Agile development methodologies 
  • Salesforce and Data experience required 
  • Experience with business process and automation tools 
  • In depth Functional / Industry Knowledge Highly flexible and adaptable to change 
  • Leadership and organizational skill are required to determine the Business Unit’s goals, resource needs and to assess and develop skills of staff
