DESCRIPTION: Northern Trust Asset Management is seeking a candidate for its Mutual Fund Operations Oversight team. This person will provide support for the Adviser’s oversight and management of the day to day operations of NTI’s US-domiciled mutual funds and exchange traded funds. The scope of the responsibilities extends to oversight of all operational and administrative processes comprising fund accounting, fund administration / regulatory administration, custody and transfer agency functions and to the management of the service vendors providing these services. 

DUTIES:  
  • Understand investment company GAAP, regulatory and tax requirements Ensure that the service vendors perform as required in light of appropriate policies, procedures, controls and/or practices 
  • Help manage any issues arising in connection with the delivery of services against suitable, qualified standards 
  • Ensure that vendors are provided with appropriate instructions from the Adviser consistent with agreed upon service models and the Adviser’s policies and procedures 
  • Establish, review, update, and maintain agreements with internal and external service providers 
  • Engage/facilitate in service review meetings 
  • Serve as the primary mutual fund liaison 
  • Oversee the completion of financial statements, tax filings, budgets and regulatory filings 
  • Prepare and review financial statement and tax disclosures 
  • Review information included in regulatory filings (N-PORT, N-MFP, N-CEN, N-1A….) 
  • Oversight of fair valuation of securities and maintenance of desperate and doubtful assets 
  • Research new and existing US regulations that impact mutual funds 
  • Highlight opportunities for process improvement 
  • Ensure controls are in place to prevent material misstatement of fund net asset values 
  • Facilitate Tax Reclaim documentation and Tax Agent management Participate in industry groups
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:  
  • 7 – 10+ years of hands on technical experience working with mutual funds 
  • CPA preferred 
  • Experience working with fund administrators, tax agents, tax/regulatory lawyers and auditors 
  • Ability to research technical issues and develop appropriate resolution Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teams to achieve objectives and meet deadlines 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Excel proficiency
