Position Summary

In partnership with a Senior Residential Mortgage Consultant, responsible for communication with partners, clients and prospective clients, to complete residential mortgage and equity credit line applications, including modifications. Evaluates the loan application for completeness and acts as a key liaison between the client or prospect, Relationship Manager and Senior Residential Mortgage Consultant. Conducts a thorough review of the application package, reviews the credit worthiness of the client/prospect, confirms the existence of key relationship qualifications that help determine the bank’s ability to accommodate an applicant’s mortgage needs. Enters applicant’s data into the Empower loan system, monitors applications throughout the process and intervenes as necessary to affect a smooth, efficient, expeditious, and positive client experience.

This position may provide professional development in preparation for roles of increased responsibility. 

1. Meets with clients and prospective clients and partners, to develop complete applications.

2. Together with the Senior Residential Mortgage Consultant, evaluates and identifies client and prospect residential mortgage loan needs and offers mortgage loan solutions within bank guidelines that meet a client's specific needs.

3. Interacts with partners and loan applicants, gathering information to ensure that loan application packages are assembled in a timely manner.

4. Reviews an applicant’s financial status and credit history to determine acceptability and feasibility of granting the loan.

5. Establishes and maintains a relationship with the applicant throughout the mortgage loan process.

6. Establishes and maintains a relationship with the National Mortgage Center to ensure that processing meets the applicant’s expectations and time constraints, keeping the Senior Residential Mortgage Consultant and Relationship Manager fully informed throughout.

7. Assists the client with the mortgage approval process and arranges or attends the real estate closings as needed.

8. Keeps abreast of competitive residential mortgage loan products escalating key data to the group manager as it develops.

9. Identifies and resolves problems within established guidelines

10. Exercises initiative where needed but also escalates more complex problems to supervisors/experts as they arise.

11. Works effectively both as a team member and independently.

12. Knowledgeable of core mortgage loan products and all other aspects of the job to build upon individual expertise and proficiency.

13. Maintains a working pipeline (log) of all applications in process.

At least 3 years of mortgage lending or related credit experience and sales or servicing experience preferred along with industry knowledge of residential mortgage loan policies and procedures.  Familiarity with the most common array of mortgage loan products is expected. 

Fair Lending and Residential Real Estate regulations, usually acquired by related work experience or course work related to industry, will be required to evaluate client loan needs.

Organizational skills are required to coordinate the mortgage approval process. Oral and written presentation skills are necessary to develop new loan business.

Flexibility and adaptability are required. Incentive compensation will be limited per regulatory requirements.

Must be SAFE Act eligible and maintain registration and be able to meet minimum regulatory requirements for the role, including but not limited to regulatory guidance for satisfactory criminal background screenings and credit report.
