Manager, Treasury Services Account Manager Team

Treasury Management is part of the Corporate Banking Group at Northern Trust. The business is part of the broader Corporate & Institutional Services Business Unit. Position Summary 
This position reports to the Manager of the Treasury Management Consulting, part of the broader Corporate Banking group of businesses at Northern Trust. The position is responsible for management of the Treasury Management Banking Account Manager (BAM) team. The team supports a portfolio of clients with duties including support of business development, coordination of new business implementations and oversight of client operational and service issues escalated to Treasury Consulting. 

Major Duties / Position Expectations 
• Participates in division management meetings and decision-making processes related to business strategy and execution required for success. 

• Allocation of the client portfolio based on client needs / complexity and resources. 

• Develops goals for the team and individual partners, sets short-term priorities, monitors all activities, and ensures timely and accurate completion of work. 

• Identifying process improvement opportunities and managing resulting change. 

• Coordinates with Treasury Management Consulting Manager and staff to understand client expectations and the specific levels of support needed.  

• Works with managers including Client Services, Account Implementation and Operations to establish and measure standards of performance required to meet business objectives and client expectations. Evaluates actual performance against expectations to identify areas for continuous improvement. 

• Is an advocate for the group to ensure all necessary resources are provided to accomplish priorities. 

• Staff development including coaching, the performance management process and providing input for staff training and development needs. 

Additional Expectations
Manage business support and administrative activities for the through oversight of relevant functions, including: 
- Treasury Management relationship review preparation 
- Past due fees within group guidelines 
- Accuracy of requests for services and pricing / fees accuracy
- Oversight for accuracy of information maintained on various systems for treasury management clients
- Coordinate resolution of specific implementation or client service issues that are escalated to the consulting group 
- Lead the Client Services / Account Implementation working group by:  
  • Coordinate / manage meetings / agendas based on business priorities
  • Create and manage a process to periodically review Client Service and Account Implementation reports to identify trends or patterns in implementation, operations or service issues
  • Work with internal partners as needed to resolve chronic operational or service issues identifying process improvement opportunities where possible
  • Monitor progress of issue resolution, reporting progress to stakeholders periodically through to final resolution 
Serve as the lead partner in treasury consulting responsible for various projects including growth strategy and transition of non-sales activities to relevant partner areas, driving each project through to successful completion. 

Oversight of business development and marketing support activities provided by the team to TMCs in coordination with the Corporate Banking Group marketing officer. 

Create and manage a proactive BAM calling program focused on periodic phone calls to clients that are not otherwise being contacted on a frequent basis by Treasury Management Consultants. 

Support the Corporate Banking Risk Management officer managing all compliance and risk related activities for the business.
Knowledge / Skills 
Knowledge of Banking and Treasury Management products and services, acquired through work experience, to effectively manage account managers, and disseminate technical information to the groups as appropriate. Leadership and organizational skills are required to develop periodic goals and to manage and motivate team members towards the goal set. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.  

Experience Required 
Previous experience in people management / leading a team is required. Experience in change management or project management is preferred. Candidates must have previous experience serving in a role that included direct client support/interaction. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
