Manager, Securities Lending

SUMMARY

Responsible for managing the local North American Securities Lending Operations Oversight and Administration Team and overseeing the related offshore teams. The teams’ activities include operational oversight, reconciliation management, management reporting, static data maintenance, client earnings processing, and borrower billing.

MAJOR DUTIES

1. Manage day-to-day operations, monitor work flow distribution and ensure resources are effectively used both within and across teams.

2. Instill a strong risk and control culture amongst the teams such that operational risk is inherently minimized and any potential risk situations are promptly identified and escalated. Ensure potential loss situations are appropriately managed.

3. Assist staff with technical queries and provide coaching in the research and resolution of complex transactional queries. Ensure an effective working relationship exists between the teams and key partner areas including (but not limited to) Trading, Client Services, Entitlements, Trade Support, Collateral, Fund Accounting, and portfolio management (NTAM).

4. Manage Client and Borrower issues ensuring appropriate resolution.

5. Participate in system enhancement projects and oversee process improvement initiatives through to implementation.

6. Operate independently; has in-depth knowledge of business unit / function.

7. As subject area expert, provide comprehensive, in-depth consulting and leadership to team and partners at a high technical level.

8. Carry out activities that are large in scope, cross-functional and technically difficult.

9. Conduct performance management and career development processes, provides input for staffing and disciplinary actions and provides hands-on training to staff.

10. Develop periodic goals, organize the work, set short-term priorities, monitor all activities, and ensure timely and accurate completion of the work.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

* Excellent oral and written communication skills.

* Analytical and problem solving skills, applies sound judgment when addressing ambiguous issues.

* Highly experienced team manager.

* Experience of Securities Lending is desirable.

* Strong leadership, organizational and people management skills are required to develop periodic goals and to manage and motivate team members towards the goals set.

* Ability to develop teams to achieve high standards of quality, straight-through-processing, and servicing to business partners.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

College degree in Finance, Accounting or similar field. Prior management experience.
