Responsible for managing a Risk Analytics unit, division or function. Conducts the performance management process, identifies training and development needs, and establishes performance standards for the division / unit / function. 1. Manages a Risk Analytics unit, division or function 2. Responsible for resolving complex issues in capital estimation, regulatory reporting and external financial statements and other aspects of risk measurement 3. Conducts the performance management process, identifies training and development needs, and establishes standards for the function 4. Oversees and directs the development of a high quality risk measurement or capital allocation framework for the Corporation 5. Responsible for managing the model development and/or quantitative analytical process for risk 6. Evaluates and develops framework in relation to corporate objectives and industry leading practices. Provides strategic direction on development needs and processes to achieve desired future state 7. Makes staffing decisions, manages expenses and salary review process for the division 8. Participates in developing division strategic plan and sets goals and priorities based on the direction set for the unit; follows through to ensure that objectives are met 9. Provides leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork, and communication 10. Responsible for direct interaction with and oversight of staff interaction with key committees and all levels of management
A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience is required; Advanced degree in related field (math, statistics, economics) or equivalent career experience preferred. Related Industry qualification is preferred. Leadership and organizational skills are required to determine the Business Unit's goals, resources needed, and to assess and develop the skills of staff. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. In-dept risk measurement or capital allocation framework are required. Highly flexible and adaptable to change. Technical skills / systems knowledge (e.g. SAS, Matlab, Advanced Excel) is preferred Understanding of technology solutions for risk measurement and the Basel II framework for risk
