Manager, Procurement
 
Reporting to: Senior Vice President, Head of Regional Procurement

Position Description:
Reporting to Regional Head of Procurement, we are currently seeking a highly creative, results-driven and forward-thinking procurement manager at Bangalore. As a procurement manager, you will assume responsibility for managing Buyers Compliance team at Bangalore. You will lead a team of procurement professionals who provide systematic management of contract creation, execution, and analysis for maximizing operational and financial performance while minimizing risk of our global contracts.  You will be charged with empowering your team to take full ownership of their space and motivating them to deliver results that have a direct impact on Northern’s bottom line and future success. You will conduct performance management and career development processes, and staffing and disciplinary actions, part of your managerial role. You will be responsible for establishing strong procurement strategies, bring consistence and quality, you will be responsible for holding them accountable as they drive these initiatives while navigating them through key strategy shifts, as necessary. The team serves the best interest of Northern by engaging in ethical, transparent and professional transactions and takes ownership of Buyer procurement functions to increase high quality competition, promote supplier diversity, and elevate supplier performance.

Major Duties

• Responsible for managing a Procurement Buyer group, including hiring, training, assigning and directing the work flow of the staff
• Responsible for directing and managing staff to provide effective and efficient support of the procurement processes
• Responsible for comprehensive Procurement compliance management which includes systematic management of contract creation, execution, and analysis for maximizing operational and financial performance while minimizing risk of our global contracts.
• Job scope includes in depth analysis & management of: A. Financial: Financial alignment and control, Understanding of contracted obligations, Achieve expectations for service delivery, Expected business benefits and value for money are being achieved, Improve forecasting and planning effectiveness and Improve our negotiation preparedness for financial discussions. B. Relationship : Improved relationship ownership – ensure monitoring throughout year based on contract criteria, Increased vendor responsiveness and cooperation, Reduce disputes and misalignment with vendors and Objective debate over changes and issues
• Ensures company policies and procedures are being adhered to as they pertain to Procurement
• Responsible for establishing and maintaining Procurement Buyer procedures and processes to improve the efficiency of the group and actively guide and support team
• Develops operational metrics to track workload and provide transparency to processes
Interacts on a regular basis with upper management, external customers as well as internal partners to integrate solutions that meet the company’s goals both financially and operationally
• Acts as key contact for various partners, including internal auditors, and other business units
• Develops periodic goals to include data tracking and automation, monitors all activities and ensure accurate completion of work
• Provides input and support to budget management process
• As subject area expert, provides comprehensive, in-depth consulting and leadership to team and partners at a high technical level
• Lead & drive, multi-faceted sourcing initiatives; cost savings plans and targets; supplier relationship management objectives;
• Role is balanced between high level operational execution and development, and execution of strategic direction of business function activities
• Conducts performance management and career development processes, provides input for staffing and disciplinary actions and provides hands-on training to staff
• Develops periodic goals, organizes the work, sets short-term priorities, monitors all activities, and ensures timely and accurate completion of the work
• Communicating frequently and professionally with internal customers and stakeholders on the status of procurement actions. Advocating for the value of procurement by aligning with internal customers and ensuring that their requirements are met
• Implement supplier agreements/contracts by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions
• Driving process improvement initiatives that positively impact customers, stakeholders, and the team.

Experience & Qualifications

• Leadership and organizational skills are required to develop periodic goals and to manage and motivate team members towards the goals set
• At least 15+ years of relevant Strategic Sourcing experience with minimum 4 years in a Procurement Manager role
• Proven track record for cultivating strong relationships with key client and supplier stakeholders that have resulted in high customer satisfaction
• Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Business/Supply Chain Management, Masters Degree (MBA/MS, CPM) preferred
• Hands-on knowledge of strategic sourcing methodologies and/or category management processes
• The ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem solving skills.
• Must possess demonstrated Procure to Pay (P2P) experience, ability to support and define best in class process and procedures, perform data analysis, provide end user support within indirect spend categories and possess excellent written and verbal
• Demonstrates skills are success in time management, collaboration capability with all levels of management, project management experience, attention to detail and focus on quality, and must be well organized.
• Data analysis and analytical decision making skills
• Exceptional influencing skills and negotiation skills
• Self-motivated.
• 3 years as a Team leader to move as a Section Manager currently at an officer Level
• 24 months as a Consultant to move as a Senior Consultant
• Movement within Senior Consultant and Section Manager is applicable if they have prior 36 months of people management experience


Experience: 15+ years of experience

Qualification:  Graduate in Engineering, Science or Commerce, Business domain from a reputed University with MBA or CPM certified.
