DESCRIPTION:  

Northern Trust Asset Management is seeking an individual to manager the Mutual Fund Operations process. This person will have lead responsibility for the Adviser’s oversight and management of the day to day operations of NTI’s US-domiciled mutual funds. The scope of the responsibilities extends to oversight of all operational and administrative processes comprising fund accounting, fund administration / regulatory administration, custody and transfer agency functions and to the management of the service vendors providing these services.


DUTIES:  
  • Understand mutual fund GAAP, regulatory and tax requirements 
  • Ensure that the service vendors perform as required in light of appropriate policies, procedures, controls and/or practices 
  • Help manage any issues arising in connection with the delivery of services against suitable, qualified standards 
  • Ensure that vendors are provided with appropriate instructions from the Adviser consistent with agreed upon service models and the Adviser’s policies and procedures 
  • Establish, review, update, and maintain agreements with internal and external service providers 
  • Engage/facilitate in service review meetings 
  • Serve as the primary mutual fund liaison Oversee the completion of financial statements, tax filings, budgets and regulatory filings 
  • Prepare and review financial statement and tax disclosures 
  • Review information included in regulatory filings (N-PORT, N-MFP, N-CEN, N-1A….) 
  • Oversight of fair valuation of securities and maintenance of desperate and doubtful assets 
  • Research new and existing US regulations that impact mutual funds Highlight opportunities for process improvement 
  • Ensure controls are in place to prevent material misstatement of fund net asset values 
  • Participate in industry groups
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:  
  • At least 10 years of hands on technical experience working with mutual funds CPA preferred 
  • Experience working with fund administrators, tax agents, tax/regulatory lawyers and auditors 
  • Facilitate Tax Reclaim documentation and Tax Agent management 
  • Ability to research technical issues and develop appropriate resolution Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teams to achieve objectives and meet deadlines 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Excel proficiency
