The key responsibilities of the role include:

  

Northern Trust is seeking a senior manager for its Loan Operations team in Tempe, AZ.  This individual will lead the team in all respects, oversee the performance management process, identify training and development needs, and establish performance standards for the team.  

The Loan Operations team on-boards and services mortgage, commercial, and custom loans, including letters of credit, for clients across Northern Trust.   

The also team tracks the collateral, upholds all legal and regulatory requirements, and maintains rigorous control standards to ensure optimal client service.  Efficiency and minimal unit costs are primary goals.

Understand the function and purpose of multiple integrated systems, and how they serve the needs of the business and clients.

Assist the business unit team(s) in understanding and improving processes and procedures.

Make staffing decisions, manage expenses and salary review process for the division.

Help plan and execute the strategic direction of business function activities.

Maintain and improve all reporting functions. 

Implement complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues. 

Leverage system and technical knowledge to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity of the business.

Work with teams across the organization to understand and improve end to end loan processing.

The successful candidate will benefit from having: 

The successful candidate will be a strong leader and communicator with extensive technical, system, and business knowledge that has been developed over 15 or more years of related experience.

College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience is required.

Seasoned manager of products and teams in a financial services setting.

Ability to manage and motivate direct reports and team as a whole  and will also conduct disciplinary actions as needed.

Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. 
In-depth functional / industry knowledge is required. 
Highly flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
Ability to work with partners at all levels.

Ability to work with all levels of an organization, and  the ability to identify and correct both systemic and staff inefficiencies that affect production. 

Experience working with both external vendors and internal systems, and can influence change in both areas to eliminate inefficiencies and drive process improvement.
