Responsibilities


Responsible for managing a function related to International Securities Lending processing. Functions include Trade Support, Income, Corporate Actions, Collateral, Client Directed Lending and Third Party Agent Lending activities. The role requires a wide breadth of operational experience including trade settlements and collateral management, and the ability to manage relationships across a number of different external parties including sub-custodians, borrowers, and third party lending agents. Ability to develop teams to achieve high standards of quality, straight-through-processing, and servicing to business partners. Conducts performance management and career development processes, and staffing and disciplinary actions. 

  • Manage day-to-day operations, monitor work flow distribution and ensure resources are effectively used both within and across teams.
  • Instill a strong risk and control culture amongst the teams such that operational risk is inherently minimized and any potential risk situations are promptly identified and escalated. Ensure potential loss situations are appropriately managed. 
  • Assist staff with technical queries and provide coaching in the research and resolution of complex transactional queries. Ensure an effective working relationship exists between the teams and key partner areas including (but not limited to) Trading, Client Services, Control, Entitlements, Custody Asset Services and Network  
  • Manage Client and Borrower issues ensuring appropriate resolution. Maintain regular dialogue with counterparts at borrowers. Participate in system enhancement projects and oversee process improvement initiatives through to implementation
  • Operates independently; has in-depth knowledge of business unit / function
  • As subject area expert, provides comprehensive, in-depth consulting and leadership to team and partners at a high technical level
  • Carries out activities that are large in scope, cross-functional and technically difficult
  • Role is balanced between high level operational execution and development, and execution of strategic direction of business function activities
  • Strategic in developing, implementing and administering programs within functional areas
  • Conducts performance management and career development processes, provides input for staffing and disciplinary actions and provides hands-on training to staff
  • Develops periodic goals, organizes the work, sets short-term priorities, monitors all activities, and ensures timely and accurate completion of the work

Qualifications

  • A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience is required (8-10 years)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Analytical and problem solving skills, applies sound judgment when addressing ambiguous issues
  • Highly experienced team manager
  • Experience of International Securities Lending is desirable
  • Strong leadership, organizational and people management skills are required to develop periodic goals and to manage and motivate team members towards the goals set
