Report to: Head of Asia ex Japan Business, Northern Trust Asset Management


 

Scope of Work

 

Responsible for engaging with institutions, family offices, wealth management and financial intermediaries on investment strategy and analytics as an investment generalist cover various investment asset classes.  Ability to apply knowledge of investment theory, financial markets, financial analysis and statistics to a range of products and custom solutions.  Responsible for assisting sales and relationship teams in achieving new business and client retention goals.

 

Duties

   

  • With the capacity to advise clients in evaluating and developing investment objectives, risk tolerances and preferences, funding and income needs, etc. in the context of an advisory or discretionary investment engagement
  • Contribute to analysis of and communicate overall portfolio structure utilizing knowledge of economic, financial market and statistical techniques at the multi-asset class or at a single asset class level
  • Maintain awareness of investment capabilities across equity, fixed income and alternative asset classes and coordinate with asset allocation teams, portfolio management teams, and external manager due diligence teams regarding implementation approaches.
  • Coordinate with sales, investment, analytics and performance teams as a resource for business development opportunities and client-facing engagements. Present the investment solution or product strategy to the client or prospects
  • Serve as an internal and external resource for knowledge sharing and thought leadership initiatives, including contributing to topic identification, content development and client engagement.
  • Contribute to business advancement efforts including collaboration with marketing, product management, sales and management teams

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
  • In-depth knowledge of client facing, investment, and/or portfolio management is required
  • Investment knowledge in Equity, Fixed Income, Hedge Funds, Private Equity, Private Debt, ESG, etc
  • Analytical and problem solving skills are required
  • Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills are required.  Technical skills / systems knowledge (e.g. Barra, Risk Metrics, Bloomberg Morningstar, Zephyr StyleAdvisor) is highly preferred.

 

Experience and Qualification

 

  • A college or university degree and a minimum of three years of relevant proven work experience in investment advisory and portfolio management for a financial institution or investment company is required
  • Prefer work experience in Global Family Office, Wealth Management or Private Bank.
  • Experience in advising clients in Alternative Investments (e.g. Hedge Funds, PE and Private Debt), Fixed Income and Multi Assets
  • Completion or progress towards CFA, CAIA or similar investment certifications is preferred
