Join Northern Trust’s exciting College & University Programs team to help recruit top talent to a leading global financial services firm. We are looking for an Intern & Co-op Student Programs Manager who has direct responsibility for the North America intern program and high school co-op student programs, and serves as the global intern program subject matter expert, helping to build a diverse talent pipeline across the company. 

This is a highly visible role working with Northern Trust managers, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, and intern candidates. The role includes program planning and execution, candidate sourcing and campus relationship management, and marketing the Northern Trust brand through presentations to students and key stakeholders.

Jobs/Duties

Student Program Management

Oversight, execution and management of summer internship and high school co-op programs including:

  • Collaborate with HR Partners, client groups, and business leaders to gain a detailed understanding of organizational goals and business need Design and build a world class internship program from social and community service events to networking sessions -- develop this calendar of events and execute programming

  • Correspond with Managers from hire to program conclusion – share onboarding best practices with Managers

  • Perform analysis of existing programs to determine effectiveness and recommendations for stronger alignment with entry-level hiring needs

  • Serve as Global Intern Program Liaison to maximize consistency across the globe and to share best practices. Collect information and conduct analysis of current intern program and ad-hoc intern offerings across the globe.

  • Consult on global intern hiring needs and the development of new intern programs 

  • Stay abreast of student program competitors and market trends

  • Gather participant and manager feedback and  make continuous improvements to increase intern conversion 

  • Manage intern and co-op programs budgets

  • Play a key role in the sourcing and hiring of intern candidates. 

  • Support the campus recruitment strategy by collaborating with Talent Acquisition Recruiters on building a candidate pipeline, executive referrals, and candidate progression

  • Act as a sourcing agent for campus recruiting roles leveraging platforms and event efforts

  • Drive diversity recruitment strategy including events, sponsorships, candidate communication and relationships. Accountable for achieving established hiring targets

  • Leverage knowledge of HR systems to create program metrics and monitor program effectiveness; communicate progress to key stakeholders

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to drive the intern offer process and increase the number of interns to full-time hires

  • Partner with the Employment Branding team to drive the intern program marketing strategy. This may entail creating content or videos. 


University Relationship Management

  • Develop, manage, and maintain relationships with partner university faculty, staff, candidates, student and professional organizations

  • Travel for campus events approximately 25% during the peak campus recruiting season

  • Develop diversity focused partnerships (internally and externally)

  • Execute strategic college recruitment events and sponsorships and represent the company in a positive and professional manner.  Market and strengthen Northern Trust and program brands by effectively presenting to various stakeholder groups

  • Provide insight and feedback on current partner universities and events to measure success and future relationships

  • Identify Northern Trust business partners to participate in campus related events/activities

  • Creation and maintenance of candidate details and communication for recruiting events

Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong client focus; ability to proactively network and establish effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, candidates and schools

  • Ability to effectively present to groups at all levels and represent the corporation and programs in a professional and positive manner

  • Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and presentation skills

  • Leadership presence and credibility to interact with all levels of employees and stakeholders, including senior leaders

  • Honed process management, time management and organizational skills
    Superior attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task

  • Innovative and strategic thinker

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

  • Flexibility in scheduling since traveling during peak season may be required

  • Passionate about developing entry level talent and understanding of millennials and Gen Z

  • Minimum three years relevant work experience - recruiting and/or program management experience preferred
