Northern Trust’s international business has grown dramatically over the last decade. Some of our largest clients are located in Asia and Australia, which represents a rapidly growing client base for the company. Since 1986, we have been serving clients in Asia-Pacific (APAC), including corporate pension funds, investment managers, insurance companies, government agencies, family offices and corporations. Our intricate understanding of the region allows us to provide unique insights and strategic perspectives to our clients. Currently, we have client offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo and Kuala Lumpur.

 

What you will do

Your focus will be on managing the Investment operations, custody support and oversight of fund administration.

Major Duties

  • Recruit, train, mentor and develop employees. Define performance standards, conduct performance reviews and handle salary administration.  Provide management, leadership and guidance to staff, creates an environment that encourages employee engagement, teamwork, and communication.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on GFS operations, these include investment operations outsourcing, fund accounting and custody operations. Support the sales process in answering RFP questions and explaining the operating model to prospective clients.
  • Liaise with various parties including fund managers, prime brokers, executing brokers, auditors, custodians, fund administrators, trust banks and other service providers for resolving the issues related to GFS Asia clients.
  • Oversee the delivery of IOO middle office services and act as the subject manner expert for market and operation solutions. Create and negotiate the Service Level Agreement (SLA), measure delivery of services against SLA, take corrective actions where needed to address service deficiencies. Create, document, maintain and improve process flows, operating procedures and controls. Facilitate the Shared Services Engagement model, responsible for coordinating shared service delivery across NT servicing teams. 
  • Lead and own business and technology enhancement initiatives which cover internal and external market initiatives
  • Overall lead, direct and execute on the strategic development of NT GFS Operational and service model in APAC.

 

Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of financial services, asset management and/or investment operations & fund administration
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Leadership and organizational skills to develop periodic goals and to manage and motivate team members towards achieving the goals set
  • Analytical and problem solving skills including risk implications
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change
  • Ability to coach and develop team members 
  • Previous market facing experience
  • Influence & Negotiation - need to be able to influence decisions and manage the challenges of working from a remote location
