The Wealth Management Data Officer defines, manages and oversees the delivery of an end-to-end data strategy and roadmap to support the Wealth Management business unit. This role is central to our go-to-market product strategies, our pledge to deliver service excellence, and our ability to operate with scale and efficiency. 


We are looking for an experienced senior leader to join the team to drive to an end-to-end vision of data management. This role directs the data governance plans to support continuous quality improvements to business unit data and highly influences enterprise data efforts to emphasize the business unit needs and priorities. In addition, this person will be instrumental in driving to a reporting strategy for the business, partnering with Product Management and working across other disciplines.


In this role, you will need to be analytical, creative and comfortable defining strategy, driving change, and transforming the most valuable ideas into actionable plans, products and results. You will collaborate with the broader Product team, Wealth Management leadership, thought leadership Practice representatives, mid-to back office operations and Technology partners to foster an innovative and integrated environment.


Summary Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement the data strategy for the Wealth Management business; architect the business vision for data sourcing, flows, use and maintenance across our operating model and platforms; partner with IT to build an end-to-end data roadmap, solution, and implement.
  • Organize and manage a team to articulate and impress the benefits of the data vision to business stakeholders in support of business initiatives and overall business unit goals.
  • Work across WM leadership and practices to establish a strong operating model and relationship to ensure aligned strategies and roadmaps to support the business and its strategies.
  • Influence business process re-engineering relating to the data capture across multiple business groups and legacy systems.
  • Work across multiple areas of business operations to measure, monitor, and improve the handling of data and drive improvements in data accuracy, data timeliness, and data completeness.
  • Build effective operating model with WM IT to champion the end-to-end data strategies and enable efficient, disciplined, and successful execution; collaborate with the Enterprise Data and IT organization on data policies, standards and practices that will inform our approach.
  • Direct a progressive data governance team, developing strategies and tactical plans that promote automated means to data quality and control; identify and address key obstacles or conflict; advocate areas of transformation or process change to support data quality; use analytics to inform their plans; and actively participate with digital product and service excellence teams to foster an informed, educated and aligned program with the field.
  • Promote the means to ensure the integrity and security of data for WM, conforming to and meeting the expectations of our clients, regulators and shareholders.
  • Direct and participate in key programs across the enterprise to ensure approach and outcomes meet WM needs. Serve as key liaison to WM on enterprise initiatives that have data implications or needs.
  • Collaborate and be a key party to shape and develop a reporting strategy for the business. Establish and promote information management principles, models, best practices, and standards and ensures their practical adoption. Champion efforts to improve business performance through information management solutions and capabilities.


Knowledge/Skills:

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Strong people skills to navigate diverse perspectives and navigate multiple priorities

Creative and analytical thinker with deep knowledge of a specific product, function or client segment

Knowledge and working familiarity of the business and the key operational relationships that support it

Knowledge of current and contemporary technology architectures, platform paradigms and integration strategies

Hands-on experience working with data strategies such as warehousing, Master Data Management, Meta Data Management, or Business Intelligence solutions in a large complex financial service organization

Knowledge and practical experience with data visualizations, data dashboarding, data analytic scientists, reporting semantics, etc.

Exposure to multiple, diverse technical configurations, technologies, and processing environments

Requires strong analytical ability, judgment and problem analysis techniques, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with client and IT management and staff. 

Knowledge of multiple areas of data practices, regulations, industry organizations and trends including Operational Data, Warehousing, Reporting and Analytics, and Big Data.

 

Experience Required:

  • Seasoned leader in the technology and/or financial services industry, a Bachelor’s degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and work experience required
  • Solid data-modeling and information classification expertise
  • Familiarity with Master Data Management, Meta Data Management, Business Intelligence, and data warehouse design and implementation techniques
  • Excellent written and oral communication and persuasion skills, including the ability to create effective marketing and messaging materials
  • Comfortable presenting to senior management
  • Ability to analyze project, program and portfolio needs, as well as to determine the resources needed to achieve objectives and overcome cross-functional barriers
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Innovative and strategic thinker who can assess rapidly changing technology and apply them to support and grow the business
