Profile / Opportunity 

This role supports the Southeast Region (US) for Northern Trust’s Global Family Office practice in a business development capacity. The position will be based in Chicago and report directly to the Global Head of Client Development. 

The Global Family Office (GFO) business support’s Northern Trust’s wealthiest of private clients and to the family offices and advisors who serve them. Target GFO market is for families with a net worth of >$200MM – many of whom have dedicated family offices, private trust companies and operating businesses. 

This role is responsible for sourcing new Global Family Office client opportunities, and positioning that firm’s trust, investment advisory, asset management, asset administration and technology solutions to prospective clients. 

Summary Requirements 

• Proven ability to cultivate markets and source new business 
• Balanced knowledge of institutional asset servicing, investment management and private client financial and advisory solutions 
• Appreciation for working with UNHW individuals and Family Offices Ability to travel as needed (>50%) 

Detailed Requirements 

• Establishes business contacts and leverages existing relationships to source new business opportunities 
• Positions Northern Trust’s comprehensive range of services to individuals and family offices focusing on trust, investment management, global asset servicing, technology and advisory related solutions 
• Conducts prospect and market analysis to assist in sourcing new opportunities • Surveys prospective clients’ overall financial structure and relationship requirements to determine how to best provide services and solutions 
• Collaborates with a team of Northern Trust experts to determine how best position solutions to prospective clients, their family office executives and/or key advisors (e.g. attorney, accountant, investment consultant, etc.) 
• Responds to inbound inquiries, including formal RFPs 
• Maintains periodic contact with existing clients for prospecting, references and advisor introduction purposes 
• Establishes development and market goals with manager
• 10-15 years of Trust and Investments sales and relationship management experience within financial services 
• Quantitative and qualitative relationship skills are required to relate individual client situations • Interactive skills are required to comprehend prospect needs and respond with the appropriate solutions 
• NASD Series 7 & 63 
• Professional designations such as CFP, CFTA, CFA, CIMA are strongly preferred
