Summary:

Global Corporate Support Finance at Northern Trust is comprised of the corporate support functions that support Northern Trust internal and external clients; and embody the values of service, integrity, and expertise of the firm. In this role, the ideal candidate will have analytical and communication skills and will be expected to work closely with the business unit executives, their leadership team, and the Corporate Shared Services Finance Team.

 

Major Duties:

 

• Under general direction the senior financial analyst may participate in monthly/quarterly reporting process, annual planning process, monthly/quarterly forecast process and various ad hoc requests to be determined by the Corporate Support Groups.

 

• Assist with the analysis of monthly and quarterly financial transactions for the Corporate Support groups; work with team to consolidate the practices into business unit financial reports. Articulate the effect of decisions on the P&L and FTE of the business unit. Assist with presentation and communication of the underlying assumptions and financial impacts of financial decisions to global services executives  and senior management

 

• Assist in the monthly/quarterly/annual reporting process, preparing analyses and reports of results relative to prior year, prior month, and/or Plan focusing on key business factors driving financial performance.

 

• Assist in the analysis for and production of monthly/quarterly/annual presentation of results to the Board of Directors.

 

• Assist in the annual Planning process, compiling information, analysis, and preparing reports.

 

• Assist in the monthly/quarterly forecast process.

 

• Assist with the understanding of the base cash assumptions of requests for the company’s capital and translate into discounted cash flows to inform approval decisions.

 

• Actively participate in special projects and ad hoc requests to support the Corporate Controller and group manager.

 

• Team performer that values the success of their client and team over the individual

Skills & Qualifications:

 

• Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics

 

• CPA/MBA or similar advanced degree preferred.

 

• 3 - 6 years of related experience in project analysis and management reporting, planning, and analysis.

 

• Analytical and problem solving skills required to evaluate financial results.

 

• Experience with international financial analysis is

 

• Financial modeling experience and understanding of financial statement

 

• Effective written and verbal communication skills are necessary to present relevant information to group senior manager.

 

• Strong personal computer skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) are required to perform analyses and communicate financial information to various constituents.

 

• Proven ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines required

 

• Attention to detail and accuracy is required

 

• Knowledge of accounting, reporting and financial analysis usually acquired through a 4-year degree program or related work experience is required.
