Director of Technology -Software Engineering
Northern Trust Asset Servicing Technology is seeking a Technology Manager with background in Java and React. This position’s primary responsibility will be to work with key stakeholders and coordinate day to day deliverables for the team. The role holder will be a key player in the delivery team that helps discover and define the problem statement, evaluates the solution options and makes recommendations. He / She must be actively involved in technical matters thus finding out the gaps and ensuring product owner involvement in business decision and description of the functional flow. He / She should be able to create status reports and provide status updates to the stake holders on a weekly basis. A significant background in Scaled Agile Delivery best practices is key to the background he / she should possess.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education.
- At least 10 years of Information Technology experience
- Experience in Java development
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Candidate will be responsible to provide expert knowledge on all workflow designs for applications.
- Candidate should be able to troubleshoot (review, analyze and resolve) production issue and able to apply code fix on needed basis.
- Candidate should be able to work with Business partners to analyze and resolve their queries and ensure compliance to all controlled processes according to business and IT requirement.
- Develop and maintain professional relationship with all stakeholders within IT and Business teams and provide support.
- Monitor and provide support to production job streams
- Monitor and attend to all alerts and escalate production issues as needed to relevant teams and management.
- Coordinate with various teams including offshore staff and raise tickets for all issues, analyze root cause and assist in efficient resolution of all production processes.
- Candidate will be responsible on-call basis after office hours including weekends to support High and Critical production issues.
- Actively contribute to continuous service improvement projects to improve the stability of critical business applications.
- Develop understanding of and adherence to Northern Trust’s technology and corporate standards at all times.
- Present IT in a professional manner, exhibit customer service values in line with NT’s A Approach.
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
- 5-7 years of experience in a technical business facing role, within a financial institution or similar preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with a solid technical background are essential as is the ability to multitask in a fast paced environment. The ideal candidate can explain technical issues in layman’s terms and translate business needs to technology teams and back.
- Team player will be working as part of a global technology team, cross training and supporting multiple critical Asset management front office applications.
- Experience in incident management, understanding of ticket workflows and use of escalation. Experience with ServiceNow is beneficial.
- Problem resolution in an analytical and logical manner, to troubleshoot root cause and resolve production incidents and implement improvement plans.
- Knowledge of Fund Accounting, Corporate Actions, Account onboarding, Reference data setup.
- Extensive Knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL.
- Extensive Knowledge of Unix/Linux Commands and scripting.
- Knowledge of IBM DataStage (or similar ETL Tools).
- Knowledge of API Webservices, Java PCF is added advantage.
- Knowledge of Eagle product suites ( Eagle PACE, STAR, MC, IWS, ML, PDC, RDC, Automation Center) is added advantage.
