SUMMARY
A Consultant on the Investment Operations Outsourcing (IOO) FX team has broad, in-depth knowledge of the business and acts as the first point of contact for day-to-day queries. The Consultant works on relatively complex, high profile activities and projects involving committees and / or senior management and that may sometimes include the end-client. The Consultant focuses on maintenance and implementation of policies and procedures, while building towards becoming an area expert in FX and its role within IOO. The successful IOO FX Consultant operates under general supervision but works independently most of the time.
MAJOR DUTIES
• Provide best in class client service through the execution of daily functions and tasks as outlined in the Functional Task & Deliverable (FTD) list
• Understand and enhance desktop operating procedures and controls around FX
• Provide timely response to inquiries and find resolution to avoid repetitive actions
• Works effectively both as a team member and as an independent self-motivated individual
• Capable of multi-tasking on complex tasks and projects
• Able to cross-train on other functions leveraging the FTD list as well as provide back up
• Serve as a key subject matter expert and mentor to junior level employees
• Able to identify opportunities for improvement within existing technology applications while acting as a liaison with partner areas to drive resolution
FX Client Service
• Independently build relationships with internal and client contacts, CSTs, CSM, Functional Teams and other Share Services with Northern Trust
• Expected to understand client’s business needs and deliverables
• Escalation point of contact for client issues or inquiries
• Obtained advanced market knowledge
• Understands current Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that are directly related to job function(s)
Team Building
• Establish, build and maintain effective working relationships with key partners internal and external to the organization
• Drive the engagement of other partners as appropriate to solve client inquiries / issues
• Understand impact of personal job function(s) on IOO peers and applicable shared services partners

EXPERIENCE
• A college or university degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience
• May be in final stages of studying for relevant professional qualification or accreditation
• Previous Financial Industry Operations, Asset Management and / or Investment FX Operations experience a plus
• Previous exposure to business process or technology enhancement initiatives
• Previous client service experience in a service oriented environment
