About The Department:

The EMEA Framework Compliance function of Northern Trust is looking for a talented professional to join the team, providing support to the wider EMEA Compliance team in executing the Regulatory Change Management Programme. This role is a unique opportunity to join a growing Compliance function. 

The EMEA Framework Compliance function is part of the UK & Mainland EMEA Compliance team, a unit which forms part of Global Compliance and Corporate Risk, and is entrusted with providing regulatory advice and assurance to senior management, boards, relevant committees, regulators and clients and ensuring Northern Trust meets its regulatory obligations at all times.  
As part of the UK and Mainland EMEA Compliance team, this role is to act as the financial regulatory subject matter expert (‘SME’) on all laws and regulations that are impacting any of our legal entities and businesses in the UK and Mainland EMEA region. This role, working with Compliance partners in other regions and countries, monitors and tracks regulatory developments, assesses their impact at an entity and business level and works with the wider Compliance team and other partners on the implementation of regulatory changes. The individual may also be asked to support the wider Compliance team as necessary. This role will report to the Head of EMEA Framework Compliance.

The key responsibilities of the role include: 

SME on the EU and UK financial regulatory landscape and key regulatory initiatives including the FCA and PRA, with the ability to interpret high level legal entity, business and operational impact of regulatory changes;
Contribute to the further development of a consistent Regulatory Change Management programme that seeks to address the tracking, interpretation, assessment and reporting of regulatory developments across countries, regions and teams; 
Support the development of an automated work flow tool for our Regulatory Change Management programme;
Support the maintenance of Rule Maps and Compliance Risk Assessments (CRAs) by providing the coordinator for our Rule Maps and CRAs updates on regulatory developments; 
Work with the Head of EMEA Compliance Assurance & Regulatory Liaison and the business to respond to regulatory requests, meetings and reporting;
Produce and provide compliance reporting on regulatory change to senior management, boards, committees and compliance management.

Core Competencies and Experience Required:

Legal or Compliance background within the financial services industry; 
Knowledge of FCA and PRA handbooks and relevant (EU/UK) laws, in particular MiFID II, Market Abuse Regulation, EMIR, AIFMD, UCITS and PSD (I and II);
Strong organizational, planning and influencing skills;
Computer literate in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point, SharePoint;
Clear communication  both verbal and written
Meeting participation and facilitation
Proven strong organisational and time management skills;
Ability to use initiative and work unsupervised in a proactive manner; 
Collaborative and flexible approach to work.
