CONSULTANT, BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

 

ROLE

This role is based in Ireland, working with the Ireland Country Head and Ireland Executive Leadership team across the wider business, the successful candidate will play a key role in developing and delivering the strategic priorities for the Irish office. This is a varied and challenging role that encompasses engagement and oversight of key initiatives, monitoring financial and operational performance, understanding and communicating business strategy and working to support the Ireland Country Head and their leadership team. In addition to strong technical and project management skills, this position requires financial acumen, proficiency in data analysis and presentation skills. This role will involve active engagement with senior management, so the candidate must be highly adaptable and comfortable with interacting with a broad range of stakeholders across the Bank.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1. Commercial Management - Monitor/review Client P&L.
- Requires an understanding of the make-up of the Client revenue and expense base and key drivers.
- Responsible for monitoring client commercial growth & performance, tracking fluctuations and variance analysis.
- Responsible for tracking progress against plan, understanding variances and predicting future position.
- Track key client new business opportunities and understand impact on Client P&L.
- Produce early oversight dashboards and ad hoc reporting as required.
- Key point of contact with Ireland Finance teams; provide key business input to quarterly and ad-hoc forecasts, and annual planning processes.


2. Business Management - Responsible for ensuring management reporting and business processes are appropriate for the oversight of the business and discussion of key issues.
- Produce required regular and ad hoc reporting and presentations for executive management, corporate wide initiatives, governance meetings, e.g., Business Update, Ireland Executive Management Group Meeting, NT Board Meetings, Regulator meetings etc.
- Provide oversight for the Client Services Metrics reporting function outsourced to the Tier 3 location; Ensure metrics reporting continues to meet business needs.
- Ensure appropriate Management information is available to the Ireland Country Head.
- Manage and run various business unit governance meetings, including GFS Ireland leadership meetings (including write up of minutes and tracking actions). Ensure the leadership governance remains appropriate for the oversight of the business and the discussion of key issues.
- Liaise closely with and where appropriate monitor the performance of non-GFS business units providing support to GFS.
- Represent the GFS Ireland business at key meetings and committees.
- Assist with planning and preparation of GFS Ireland offsite meetings.
- Key point of contact/gatekeeper for GFS Ireland for other stakeholders around the Bank.
- Deal with ad hoc requests as required which will cover a broad spectrum of topics related to the business.

 

 

3Strategic Development - Clearly communicate and advocate the GFS Ireland strategy. Participate in developing strategic plans and sets goals and priorities based on the direction set for the business; follows through to ensure that objectives are met.
- In conjunction with the GFS Ireland leadership team, responsible for the development and delivery of the GFS Ireland strategic roadmap.
- Participate in developing strategic plans and setting goals and priorities based on the direction set for the business
- Produces appropriate communications to articulate the annual and longer-term strategies of the GFS Ireland business - for the immediate leadership team, internal and external clients, EMC and wider stakeholders.
- Works closely with other business units to ensure alignment of objectives and strategy.
- Support Head of GFS Ireland in analysing strategic issues and provide clearly articulated recommendations and proposals to resolve issues.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of the client, competitor and wider market environment - able to understand and articulate the impact of this on the business unit.
- Represent GFS Ireland in key strategic (typically commercial) initiatives from a business (not project management) perspective. New Deal Approval Forum, Senior Sales Meeting, significant sales opportunities necessitating strategic change, acquisition targets etc.
- Represent GFS Ireland on key regulatory projects/programmes, understands the business impacts of these.

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage with a broad set of stakeholders 

  • Strong analytical skills – able to analyse data, identify patterns/related trends as needed, with the subsequent ability to present the data as consumable by senior business decision-makers

  • Proven track record  of demonstrating excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines 

  • Flexible self-starter with the ability to work independently or collaboratively across multiple locations in a fast paced, technical, cross-functional environment

  • In-depth functional / industry knowledge.

  • Proficient across the MS Office applications, in particular Excel and PowerPoint  

  • Excellent visual design sense regarding clear and accurate presentation of data

  • Demonstrable success with executive-level initiatives and complex problem resolution skills
