IRAS Team
The IRAS team within India currently has approximately 250 staff members which are expected to grow further by the end of 2019. The team in India equate to around over 48% of the global IRAS staff and the largest in absolute staff numbers.

The India team is split into supporting the three regions where Northern Trust has clients.  The team provides services covering Performance measurement, Compliance monitoring, Risk measurement, Data integrity and Index data oversight.


Role

Seasoned professional with strong business experience, multi-disciplinary functional experience and with a focus on control and quality within operations group.  Works with both direct and indirect staff within an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork and communication.

Maintains established operational control processes of the operating group in accordance with the highest standards and best practices.  Tests controls and measures to identify excessive operational risk and/or control problems at an early stage and works with staff to maintain quality and efficiency standards.  Assists cross-functional staff to maintain highly efficient operational processes that avoid control and quality deficiencies and associated monetary losses.

 

Knowledge/Skills:

The candidate should possess the following knowledge and skills:

•Data Privacy Control standards, reviews and metrics
•Reconciliation standards and communication
•EUC standards, compliance and communication of best practices
•Resiliency planning
•Coordinating BCP events, Stress Tests
•Collaborate with internal Audit, Risk, Compliance and GBCRS on behalf of IRAS
•Work with GFS Control APAC and help evolve IRAS Controls
•Critical issue management and support for Ops

Principal Responsibilities


The principle responsibilities of the Ops Control Consultant will include, but may not be limited to, the following;
•Process control

•Perform end-to-end reviews on the key process controls to proactively identify control weaknesses/gaps; if any and consult with business (global managers/stakeholders) to mitigate the gaps or strengthen controls.
•Prepare the control review documentation like scope, review methods, observations, publish final report with recommendation and track open items till closure.
•Partner with various stakeholders such as: Risk, Global Business Continuity Resiliency, Audit, Compliance, IT etc. to assist business and effectively deliver Control objectives
•Review any region specific regulatory issues.  Make recommendations and control implementation by Business Unit.
•Provide oversight around assessing operational readiness of the business unit’s ability to take on new clients, processes, or perform system migrations.
•Works with both direct and indirect staff, fostering an environment that encourages participation, teamwork and communications.
•Tests controls and measures to identify excessive operational risk and/or control problems at an early stage and works with staff to maintain quality and efficiency standards 
•Works cross-functionally with other staff to create highly efficient operational processes that avoid control and quality deficiencies and associated monetary losses.
•Participates with the operating group in selected scenario analyses for Operational Risk Management.

•Policies / BCP
•Comprehends NT policies and standards to correlate with Operational procedures for adherence and address gaps on a timely basis.
•Ensure operations staff receive relevant information relating to NT policies, standards and regulatory requirements
•Ensure that current policies and procedures are in place (and are being followed) for business unit functions and are in compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
•Ensure Business Continuity requirements are adhered to, with no deviation from agreed procedures and processes.

•KPI / MIS
•Perform detective reviews after incidents, suggest solutions and help implement them.
•Analyses and reports on metric processes/systems consistent with GFS Controls standards.
•Should have the ability to maintain various MIS reports and should ensure timely completion of all the MIS and other ad-hoc reports to be submitted to management.

Qualification & Experience :

•Strong background in Operations Risk & Control/Audit role with 5 to 7 years of experience.
•Proven expertise in implementing controls.
•Experience in Investment Performance / Compliance / Capital Markets / Securities Operations will be an added advantage.
•Preferably with audit background.
