Position Summary: 

Responsible for client service and administration of institutional relationships with foundations, endowments, nonprofit organizations and other institutional entities. Client Advisor will be a member of the Foundation & Institutional Advisory (FIA) practice in the West Region which provides comprehensive investment advisory, asset servicing and specialized institutional solutions to clients with investable assets ranging from $10-$250 million. Primarily responsible for delivery of high quality service and overall client satisfaction while coordinating with investment partners, the overall FIA team and all appropriate resources across Northern Trust. Communicates internally and externally to gain understanding of client needs, and ensures timely delivery of high quality account service, issue resolution and effective communication of client needs to partners, to develop and enhance overall advisory relationships with clients. Additionally will support the FIA Sales team to develop prospects and win new client relationships. 
  • Administers and services assigned account base of FIA relationships by working closely with clients and their professional advisors to develop a thorough understanding of needs and goals. Exhibits working knowledge of account service agreements and supporting documentation to fulfill administrative requirements  
  • Exhibits strong working knowledge of FIA services/offerings including custody, reporting, transaction processing, nonprofit advisory services, banking/credit offerings and asset management services . 
  • Proactively identifies service gaps, client issues, planning opportunities and appropriate opportunities to introduce Northern Trust experts to deliver specialized advice. 
  • Actively aligns these resources to provide referrals and cross-sell additional client services. 
  • Guides client conversations to offer proactive advice and best practices in support of the organization in an effort to expand capacity and offer solutions. Combines technical knowledge and analysis to develop advice-driven solutions for clients. 
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of Northern Trust resources across Wealth, Asset Management and Corporate & Institutional Services business units to utilize enhance the overall client service experience. 
  • Provides ongoing analysis of client fee arrangements to ensure accuracy and overall cost-effective structure. 
  • Understands and complies with internal policies, processes and procedures to effect prudent risk management and judgment. 
  • Recognizes relationship risk issues and seeks appropriate resolution. 
  • Cultivates relationships with referral sources and centers of influence to support and grow the FIA practice and Wealth business unit. 
  • Works with FIA sales staff to identify, support and assist in developing new business. 
  • Teaches and mentors less experienced partners.  
  • Travels as needed for client meetings to address service needs and/or assist in new business efforts. 
  • Assists in preparation of responses to RFP with the support of the Sales Team Prepares and coordinates final sales presentations and related materials Maintains data files, researches prospect information and market data, and provides analysis to increase pipeline of new business opportunities 
  • Assists Regional Director in planning and execution of key marketing events and sponsored conferences.
Qualifications
  •  At least 5 years experience in asset servicing, relationship management, trust administration, investment management or related fields is preferred. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.  
  • Strong working knowledge of administration, custody and reporting services and solutions, usually acquired through related work experience, is required  
  • Medium level of knowledge of investments, fiduciary relationships, capital markets, banking and operations usually acquired through formal education or related experience is required Highly flexible and adaptable to change  
  • Technical skills / knowledge of financial desktop tools and systems is required Skills in negotiating, problem solving, delegating, client service and sales are required 
  • Bachelor’s degree and relevant proven work experience is preferred.
