Summary


Expert is responsible for the management, oversight and enhancement of the Strategic Cyber Threat Intelligence (S-CTI) program. The S-CTI program delivers cyber threat intelligence that highlights systemic cyber risk to Northern Trust, its clients and its shareholders. This function is responsible for identifying and transforming global cyber threat information into actionable, relevant intelligence regarding actual or potential cyber threats to Northern Trust’s business, brand and reputation. 


This role is responsible for producing and delivering contextualized intelligence to stakeholders all levels of management throughout the organization.


Major Duties


• S-CTI Lead that ensures effective operations of the S-CTI program, including: o Execute upon regular collection, analysis, production and dissemination of intelligence to various stakeholders, such as the Cyber Threat Fusion (CTF) incident response team, the Information Technology Risk Committee (ITRC) lead by the Chief Information Risk Officer, the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), the Internet Banking Council (IBC), others as required. Reports provide situational awareness or alerts stakeholders to cyber events that may affect Northern Trust. 


  o Provide regular briefings to relevant committees and risk management groups including CTF, Internet Banking Council (IBC), and various regional risk forums in APAC and EMEA regarding external threat environment and potential impact to NT


o Respond to Requests for Intelligence from NT stakeholders (e.g., CTF, Corporate Risk).


o Provide continuous program enhancement, including periodic review of program requirements, evaluation of process effectiveness and intelligence sources, enhancement of process based on stakeholders’ feedback.


o Produce Country Cyber Risk Intelligence Assessment on a regular basis, for global locations where NT conducts business.


o Build upon professional Cyber Threat Intelligence network through peer contacts, FS-ISAC, and other sources. 


 o Maintain threat intelligence vendor relationships.


• S-CTI lead will explore opportunities to expand S-CTI program into a more integrated cyber threat intelligence program (CTI center) that includes collaboration with tactical and operational intelligence counterparts across the Global Threat Management Team. Works with management and peers across the organization to develop the S-CTI strategy and plan and ensure objectives are met in a timely fashion.


• Provides leadership and guidance to team members, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork, and communication.


• Contribute to the Security Incident Response team and communicates incidents to appropriate stakeholders including senior management in Information Technology and Corporate Risk Management


• Interfaces frequently with information security industry groups to stay abreast of emerging security trends

• Seasoned multi-disciplinary expert with extensive technical and / or business knowledge and functional expertise

• Displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity

• Leads and aligns IT security priorities with the organization’s mission and vision • Extensively Learns the Business to contextualize global threat intelligence against Northern Trusts most critical data and processes

• Monitoring of external threat intelligence data sources to maintain enterprise situational awareness

Assists in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the enterprise's information security safeguards to ensure they provide the intended level of protection

• Helps provide technical documents, incident reports, findings from computer examinations, summaries, and other situational awareness information to appropriate senior management

Knowledge/Skills


• Analytical skills: analysis of data/information from a variety of sources, critical thinking, reasoning and logic, problem solving, and decision making. 


 • Knowledge and experience of using intelligence tradecraft to generate hypothesis, evaluate information, and produce evidence-based intelligence.

• Knowledge of cyber threat landscape relevant to the financial services sector. Understanding of cyber threat actors and their behaviors. 

  • Ability to incorporate geopolitical and social-economic factors into cyber threat analysis.

  • Risk management: ability to assess and articulate cyber risk to NT emanating from cyber threats

• Knowledge management skills: plan, collect, organize information, in order to support information analysis and intelligence production

• Communication skills: clear expression of analytical conclusions, effective verbal and written communication of insights to business, information security, and risk audiences.

• Technical competencies: have a technical foundation or experience with information technology and technical disciplines, such as vulnerability management, incident response, network defense, etc.

• Information Security skills: understanding of CIA triad, core security principles, and Information Security domains.

• Knowledge of new and emerging IT and information security technologies

• Knowledge of what constitutes a threat to the enteprise Experience Required A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience in the area of Information Security is required. Industry certification such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, GIAC is preferred.
