The Associate Auditor is responsible for conducting and documenting routine audit examinations throughout the company. The role is a direct report to the Finance Audit Manager, and is responsible for completing audits and other special projects in accordance with stated budget, timeframes, and department standards. The Associate Auditor provides input to improve operational efficiency and/or to enhance the design or operating effectiveness of the internal control environment.


Responsibilities

 

• Performs review of various departments, particularly departments that have financial impact by understanding the key risks and controls within the function being reviewed
• Performs special projects as assigned
• Document walkthroughs and process flows, identifying failure points within the activity and control points to mitigate/identify failure
• Demonstrates professional skepticism and comfort with questioning how certain processes are being performed in order to facilitate making improvements
• Actively listen and be open to diverse ideas and contributing ideas
• Communicates with internal Audit Service partners at all levels, developing and presenting recommendations on operations and controls for the business unit or audit department
• Applies analytical skills to review information and determine potential control weaknesses
• Develops a thorough understanding of the Northern Trust Audit Methodology and adheres to all applicable department standards
• Perform testing in accordance to the Internal Audit Manual and producing clear and concise documentation aligning test attributes with test objectives, and connecting conclusions reached with test results
• Completes and compiles a high quality summary of findings and recommendations for review in a concise and professional manner

Requirements


• Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Accounting, Master degree a plus and/or equivalent work experience
• CPA eligibility preferred
• Knowledge of auditing in the financial services industry and basic accounting principles
• Analytical and organizational skills
• Report writing and documentation skills
