Northern Trust's Wealth Passport Technology team is seeking an experienced and dynamic Application Development Team Leader for the Wealth Passport application. In this exciting and challenging role you will lead various technology initiatives including BAU, Architecture Modernization, and UX redesign strategic projects and will be responsible for leading global technology team located in Chicago and India. The key responsibilities of the role include: • Responsible for the development and delivery of medium to large scale projects and initiatives. • Manages application development staff and daily activities. • Develops goals, organizes the work, sets short-term priorities, monitors all activities, and ensures timely and accurate completion of the work. • Works closely with business leaders to identify business needs, priorities and roadmap. • Manage large and small projects with multiple business stakeholders across the organization • Understand end to end needs by working other interfacing apps to help the team execute and align with long term strategy. • Identify and escalate risks and issues. Work with team to implement mitigation plan. • Participates in capital management and expense budgets for the team. • Ensures completion of management status reporting for projects / team. • Supports project development and advises staff on big picture impacts. • Ensures proper project resource planning including intake activities and prioritization. • Supports discussions with Infrastructure and IT management regarding automation needs. • Ensures compliance with all audit requirements including change control procedures and data security.

The successful candidate will benefit from having:


• B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

• 15+ years of solid application development experience utilizing modern technical frameworks and architecture.

• Proven experience with development and delivery of multi-channel applications, Web, Mobile, API, etc.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience leading a technology team.

  • Excellent leadership, consultative, and communication skills. involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues.

• Complete understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and/or other methodologies

• Extensive experience with leading projects in an Agile env.

• Ability to adjust to changes and set priorities to meet deadlines

 Extensive prior experience with Java, Spring, and Cloud technologies.

• Extensive prior experience with databases such as Oracle.

• Extensive experience working effectively with diverse groups around the world including IT management, technology staff, business partners, consultants, vendors, and clients. 

  • Ability to demonstrate leadership / judgment while under pressure in a very dynamic environment.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills needed to carry out complex initiatives Preferred

• Experience in the financial domain.
